We've had a lot of questions about makeup for the wedding day---- and although we have discussed this before I think it bears repeating.
- The first rule is that you want to look like YOU, just more polished.
- Always, always practice makeup before the Big Day, give it a trial run whether or not you are doing your own makeup or having it done.
- We have several names of excellent hair and makeup professionals, please ask if you need a recommendation. Having this service provided for you and your wedding party does take a lot of stress and strain off of your day.
- You want to be "matte" for your day, without looking cakey. Rice paper blotting papers are a must for your travel bag.
- Our makeup choice is from Bare Escentuals and there is a great store in the Galleria. Their makeup professionals are well versed in what you need when it comes to colors. Their foundation is powder and works extremely well for all skin types. The finishing powder is Mineral Veil and not only looks great and helps keep the matte look, but is comfortable to wear. Their eyeshadows are also powder, come in a zillion colors and don't crease or work their way off as easily as many other brands.
- If you don't wear a lot of makeup, don't wear a lot of makeup on your wedding day. Make sure you look as wonderful as you can, and are comfortable with how you look after your trial run. Many of our brides either choose to do a formal bridal portrait with their makeup done so they can see it, feel it, and see how it photographs or they have it done for their engagement session. Both are great options.
- Start early to find your perfect look and ask questions.
- Have I mentioned practice your wedding day look?
