Carrie & Suzie
It rained, dang it but it did! Thank heavens that Carrie and Suzie knew what was important and that was getting married! I have to tell you gentle blog readers, this was THE most incredible ceremony I have ever seen--- and as you can imagine I have seen quite a few. Carrie's lovely bridal bouquet was cinched with the fabric and buttons of her Mother's wedding gown, Suzie's Mother's veil decorated the stairwell leading to the sunken garden, and Carrie's father (who is a Minister) was the officiant. They exchanged vows at the St. Louis Artist's Guild, an incredibly beautiful building that proved to be perfect for this loving couple. There were SO MANY things to note from this wedding but among them was the Unity Candle and their wedding program. The program (photo above) was fabulous and made by some of their friends. The lace fabric on the garments/tops of some of the wedding party was photocopied and used for the cover inset and the page borders---- the staggered pages were topped with vellum and secured with a ribbon---- GORGEOUS! And their Unity Candle celebration was without a doubt my favorite EVER! All of the guests held a small taper and their candles were lit, starting at the back. When the flames reached the center front their Father's lit their candle and then went to light the candles that their Mom's were holding. Then Suzie and Carrie's candles were lit by their Mother's and they lit the individual unity candle. All of this was made extraordinary as Jonathan played the Native American Flute, I have to tell you, it was haunting, beautiful, and mesmerizing. We ended our day with them in the moonlight on the stairs under the arch at Washington University.
Wow, what a day! We are grateful to have been a part of this unique and loving day between two strong, vibrant and wonderful women. I hope you enjoy looking at a selection of photos from their day. Like ALL weddings, it is a union of souls and it is all about the LOVE!
