Thinking Treats...

The August September issue of the newsletter will go out tomorrow to our brides, if you aren't on the mailing list and would like to receive one in .pdf please let us know and we will send one out via email.

In addition to the newsletter we're finalizing plans for the series of bridal shows coming up in the next month, August is probably the craziest show season in St. Louis and we will be attending several. It's always crazy at the booth and we leave unable to finish a sentence and so tired it's hard to even breath---- but we absolutely love meeting so many wonderful brides and grooms as well as their friends and families, we have a great time! Our show schedule is in the newsletter so you can make plans to stop by and visit with us.

Bobbi tells us that Prince and Hana returned from the groomer and look handsome/beautiful, and apparently they know it too! :) All of our clients always ask for new photos of the dogs so I've asked Bobbi to take some new photos, hopefully they'll be up in a couple of days.

There have been a number of brides recently who have called us about wedding day ice cream/custard at Ted Drewes. YES, this venerable St. Louis institution still provides their frozen delicacies to bridal parties free of charge. On any given Saturday you will find quite a few wedding parties stopping by, it is something they have grown up seeing and knew that they wanted to do that on their wedding day as well. Both locations offer free custard and it is lots of fun for everybody. We are pretty mean about vanilla only for the bride---- let's not tempt fate and get hot fudge on the gown, okay?????? Just know that you will attract lots of attention, but it is just another way to be the star on your day! Me? I don't stick to vanilla, I'm a Southern Delight or a Cardinal Sin girl, oh yeah! Bobbi always sticks to the Dutchman being the creature of habit that she is. Depending on what part of town you are on location in--- Fritz's near Valley Park is another good frozen treat location. No, they don't provide free treats to the bride and her minions you'll have to bring the debit card but it is very good. On a recent stop with a wedding party we can all heartily recommend the Birthday Cake Concrete, yum!

All things considered when you think about it---- it is a great day for ice cream, no matter where you stop! Make mine a large please!

Kate and Matt

What do you need besides a beautiful bride and a handsome groom for a glorious wedding? Well, when you throw in lots of love and add to the mix fun family and friends you are off to a great start. When you complete the brew by having the Dom Perignon flowing at a beautiful reception at the Starlight Roof at the Chase, well--- suffice it so say that the wedding of Kate and Matt was quite spectacular. We enjoyed every minute of it, it was an honor! We had the opportunity to work with Christy and the girls from All Dressed in White and that always makes the day go smoothly as well as adds a lot of fun.

Enjoy the slideshow of their beautiful wedding!

Randi and Paul

Pop the cork indeed! We are very happy to have Randi and Paul as part of the wedding family at BBP. Their wedding in July 2008 will be gorgeous at the World's Fair Pavilion and we're honored to have been selected as their wedding photographer. We had a great time when we met with Randi and her Mom, they are wonderful people so we have every confidence that not only will the wedding be great but that we will enjoy a relationship with the family for many years to come.

I have to laugh at our brides, they are SO wonderful------- and just so funny! Our darling Katie called yesterday to tell us that because she is so busy getting skinny she has to have her ring resized! (Many of you will know exactly what she is talking about!) Well, not resized exactly but because is is pave' the ring will have a sizing insert. Will it show in the ring shots? Or having heard from cute Jenna, her hair color will be slightly different at her wedding from her engagement photos (and guest book). Will this be a huge problem? Earlier in the season our dear Carin called because while cooking dinner she burned her hand and how horrible would the photos be because of this boo boo? It's all in a day's work around BBP, and brides------ no worries we will take it as it comes and make the very best of it!

Have a wonderful Friday!

And baby makes 3....

Steve and Melissa were in the studio for a maternity session just before the arrival of their son (affectionately referred to as "Little Man" at the moment). They brought their other two daughters with them for a family portrait as well. We LOVE to see our brides and grooms come back as their families expand, what a blessing to continue our relationship of capturing "Images from the Heart..."

Amy & Jason

Last Friday we had the privilege of capturing Amy and Jason's wedding day with "Images from the Heart..." We started at the gorgeous Westin as Amy got dressed in her suite and then had a wonderful afternoon of location photography with the couple and the wedding party before the ceremony at the lovely St. Anthony's of Padua. The reception was at the ever popular Windows on Washington. Amy was an absolutely gorgeous bride (as you can see by the slideshow) and her groom Jason was dashing. We adore Amy and her Mom Sue, but the 'bonus' is that her new husband Jason is absolutely without a doubt one of our favorite grooms, adorable, kind, considerate, and with a fabulous personality---- whatta guy! :)

This great couple is honeymooning in Italy............. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. If I didn't like them so much I'd be tempted to sniffle a bit.

Two Quick Bits---

We're out the door for the wedding of Matt and Kate! We just love this couple and have been looking forward to their day for quite some time. It is going to be nothing short of absolutely spectacular. Adding to our anticipation is that we get to work with Christy Ricker from All Dressed in White once again, we just love her! When it comes to excellent wedding coordinators, Christy is one of the very best.

And before I leave---- dear blog readers---- I told you that I'd report the deets from Danielle. She does tell me that the guy she is currently dating and has achieved Boyfriend status seems to be the one to make her heart go pitter patter. I haven't met him yet but hope to in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime know that I am collecting on my (very long) list all of the pertinent questions as to just why he should be allowed to date our Nell! :) Any and all questions that bear placing on the list, you know you can just let me know!

Enjoy this beautiful Saturday with amazing weather!

A Beautiful Weekend for Weddings

Our brides this weekend are just super lucky----- woo hoo the weather is going to be absolutely spectacular! The thunderstorms blew through last night taking with them the heat and humidity and today as well as through Sunday it is going to be glorious out there!

Our wedding this evening, starting with photos mid-day and continuing on, is the much anticipated wedding of Amy and Jason. When we popped out yesterday for a quick bite of lunch in the CWE we spied the bride's mom making her rounds of 'beauty'! It is going to be a lot of fun! Danielle will be along to second shoot and I promise for my nosy (yet sweet) blog readers I will get the dirt on the New Man. All dirt collected in the gossip phase of the day will be dutifully passed on to you, I promise.

Even if you don't happen to be getting married today, have a fantastic day, get out there and enjoy this incredible, fantastic non-July weather!

Katie and Andy

What is more fun on a very hot Tuesday than to welcome a brand new bride and groom? Katie and Andy, we are so very thrilled to have you as part of the BBP wedding family!

Readers will notice that yes, we have another Katie! She said that when she was growing up that there were a zhamillion Katie's around her-- well that must be true because we have quite a few. We have a lot of Andy's as well, but not nearly as many.

So Katie-Brown Hair it is! :) We had a great time in the studio with Katie and her Mom Carol and I am sure that we will enjoy a wonderful relationship over the years.

It is just brutally hot today in St. Louis, I'm afraid the tires will flat melt off the car! Hope that everyone can find a way to stay cool until the weekend when the heat is supposed to break. That is very good news for our two weekend brides who have had their ears pressed to the tv set to hear the weather forecast.

Try this really cool recipe from Cooks.com

CREAMY LEMON SHERBET
1 c. sugar
2 c. (1 pt.) Borden whipping cream
1/2 c. Realemon reconstituted lemon juice
Few drops yellow food coloring
In medium bowl, combine sugar and cream, stirring until dissolved. Stir in Realemon and food coloring. Pour into 8-inch square pan or directly into sherbet dishes. Freeze 3 hours or until firm. Remove from freezer 5 minutes before serving. Return leftovers to freezer. Makes about 3 cups.

I make this with fresh lemons (about 8 of them), and fresh heavy cream. I'm not a food coloring girl but adding it does give it a richer lemon color. Super simple, super fast, and great on a nasty hot day like today!

Ashley & Ryan

The newlyweds looking calm, cool and collected............

The sky didn't had almost no clouds in it....... and you wouldn't guess how hot it was because it doesn't show the normal St. Louis Humid Haze!

The beautiful and lavish Basilica in the Central West End was the site of the wedding ceremony of Ashley and Ryan. The brides dress was gorgeous with it's cathedral length train as well as veil, just spectacular! We had a wonderful time on location until it was time for the reception. Needless to say the day was HOT HOT HOT so the stop at Ted Drewes for delicious cool custard was a necessary stop indeed!

Just seeing the photos makes me yearn for a Cardinal Sin right this very minute---- or wait, maybe a Southern Delight! YUM!

Mary and Chance

We are so very excited to welcome Mary and Chance to the wedding family at Bobbi Brinkman Photography. We met Mary at the recent bridal show in Chesterfield and hit it off immediately. Her parents own The Columns in St. Charles, also of course the site of her reception venue. You just know it will be a lovely event. Her fiance Chance is a pretty funny guy, you know one of those dry sense of humor men!

Today we will be capturing the wedding of Ashley and Ryan and we are really looking forward to it. Ashley is a huge Cards fan and Ryan is (tsk tsk) a Royals guy----- their engagement shoot was especially fun when they wore dueling t shirts!! The day looks like it will be absolutely gorgeous and this great couple deserves all the best!

Jen & Chris

A very happy BBP welcome to Jen & Chris--- we are really pleased to have you as part of the family! They came to us via a favorite couple, Tovah and Josh (whom we adore!) Jen and Chris are getting married in '08 at Caroline Vineyards so it is sure to be a wonderful wedding.
The funny thing about time is that it flies so fast it will seem like the blink of an eye until the happy day arrives.

I got a phone call today asking me about Prince and Hana----- so funny. Bobbi says that yes, the dogs are great---- spoiled and spunky. And of course, I will add some new photos to the blog soon.

Have a fabulous Friday!

Katie and Justin

I wanted to bring you a few images from Katie and Justin's 7.7.7 wedding at the Butterfly House. The colors were so vibrant that day, the bridesmaids hot pink gowns, the gorgeous flowers, and the colors of the Butterfly House itself from the flowers and foliage to the amazing perfection of the butterflies. Even though it was a tad warm (after all it IS July in St. Louis), the wedding was really wonderful and the newlyweds are such kind and gracious people. They are off on their honeymoon in Florida the lucky ducks!

For those of you (and Carin you know who you are!) who are dying for a peek of Nell and her new fella, your wish is my command. Aren't they a gorgeous couple? You know we'll keep you posted with the deets of the relationship!

Choices

We love to meet new brides and their fiance's and families and at the bridal show on Sunday we met lots! It's always so much fun to hear about where the wedding ceremony will be held, what decision was made about the reception venue, flowers and gowns, and tuxes and transportation, it all adds up to making or breaking a day that (we hope) happens once in a lifetime. We heard a very sad story (yet again) and sadly, we hear it much more often than we would like. A bride and groom to be came up to us and asked if we were available for their wedding date. Unfortunately we were not. They shared with us that they had selected their photographer months ago and the time had come to have their engagement photographs taken, the wedding is in three months. Well, they got their photos back and they absolutely hate them. HATE them! They remarked that the photographer returned to them proofs that were just horrible. This poor couple is going to walk away from their contract with this company because they feel so strongly about not having their wedding photos taken. BBP would have loved to have helped them, but as I said earlier, we were already booked for their date. Of course we did give them a couple of suggestions as to photographers that we felt would do a good job for them but that doesn't make things any easier in the meantime. They were so upset and we felt so bad for them.

The moral of the story is choose well. Remember that Mom was right, you do get what you pay for. Every detail of a wedding has several choices, do your research and make a decision that you will be pleased with in the long run.

That's one of the reasons why we have a preferred vendor list and it makes us very happy when our couples follow it. Your day can only be as good as the professionals you hire. We have a list of the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly---- we can't force anyone to hire a particular vendor but we do make suggestions when asked.

Oh---- we will get asked WHO the photographer is. Let me tell you right now I'm not going to tell you so don't ask! :) Just know that you need to choose your vendors as well as you chose your honey!

We Love You Too!

Thanks for such a great day at the Doubletree in Chesterfield yesterday for the St. Louis Best Bridal Show! We met so many of you (SO SO SO MANY.......) and had a really great time talking about your wedding days! The best part is that we will have the opportunity to sit down and get to know many of you better in the coming weeks 'out' of the crazy atmosphere of the booth.

As most brides and wedding vendors around the St. Louis area know, we are coming into Wedding Show Season, and the bottom line for BBP anyway is by the time we get to the end of August not only will we be tired and talked out but 2008 for the most part will be booked for weddings. The brides will be tired as well but will have had a great time finding out exactly what details they want included for their once in a lifetime events. It is hard work isn't it brides!

The funniest story from the show yesterday was the elderly man walking the show with one of those large paper handled bags from one of the tuxedo vendors, he went up to every single booth and if they were giving it away---- he was taking it. From the kisses and mints on our tables to the pens, or balloons, or paper fans or even catalogs, he took it all. Then he made a second (and sometimes third) sweep of the room and got MORE. The gentleman had to have been 80, I'm pretty sure he wasn't getting married and he wasn't obviously with anyone there. He was cute and from what we could see everyone left him to his own devices. He should have enough chocolate to last him for the week at the very least.

Bridal Show

We will be heading out to the St. Louis Best Bridal Show today at the Doubletree in Chesterfield, the doors open at Noon and the show runs until 4:00. Please come by and see us, we always have a great time meeting everyone (and always seeing some upcoming brides that are out shopping for 'one last thing'!)

Have a wonderful Sunday!

7.7.7

The media in America, and presumably around the world, is going crazy over weddings today on 7.7.7. The luckiest day to be married say the pundits. Of course "they" say all sorts of things that we know are just bald faced lies so I know enough to believe without a doubt that ALL of the BBP brides and grooms will be very blessed!

Today the BBP 7.7.7 wedding is that of Katie and Justin, a gorgeous ceremony at the Butterfly House. Without a doubt family and friends will enjoy their vows and head out for their reception--- a true celebration! We've been told that the media will be out in force capturing the 'lucky' bridal parties today, wonder who we will run into??? As they say, news at 11. I don't think that there will be any escape from hearing all about the most famous 7.7.7 wedding of Eva Longoria and Tony Parker.......... heck we will be hearing about that one ad infinitum!

Getting Ready

We all collectively enjoyed our Fourth of July Holiday although it was HOT! Bobbi and her nephew Alex apparently blew up every cardboard box in the house along with an extensive stash of fireworks. Thankfully no one was hurt in the making of the 2007 memory! I've asked for photos but have none to share, I'm sure that any photos would not accurately capture the wonderful time that they have on their day of pyromaniac bliss. You can just imagine can't you?

Jody and Derek are leaving for their honeymoon tomorrow, two weeks--- doesn't that sound wonderful? They are one of our wedding couples that postpone a honeymoon for awhile---- not terribly long mind you, just long enough to be able to clear the decks and get out and enjoy an extended time away. I must confess to being extremely jealous, I need a vacation in a Big Way.

Now on one of the hottest and most humid days of the year we get back to work in the Studio on desks piled pretty high. One of the most pressing obligations is to get ready for the Best Bridal Wedding Show in Chesterfield at the Doubletree this Sunday. It promises to be a huge and really exciting show full of great vendors and wonderful brides. Stop by and see us, please! We will be there with Becki and you know for a fact that we will have chocolate!

Kevin and Michelle

The wedding last Saturday was absolutely lovely----- Kevin and Michelle were so happy and it showed at every second. The wedding reception was held at Fox Run Country Club and everyone had a wonderful time. By the time Michelle's proud Dad had his Father-Daughter dance to "Butterfly Kisses", there was not a dry eye in the house--- so sweet! Enjoy the slideshow of some of our favorite images from their day.
